What personal belongings do you hold most dear?

We all own things, but only a few truly *own us*—the items we’d rush to save in a fire because they carry memories, meaning, or a piece of our soul. Here’s what I cherish most:

1. My Grandmother’s Handwritten Recipes
A tattered notebook, ink smudged by time, filled with recipes in her looping cursive. Every stain tells a story—the *pakora* batter spilled during Eid, the *kheer* notes scribbled in haste. These pages are my edible inheritance.
2. A Faded Concert Wristband
From my first live music experience—cold night, louder heartbeats, and the thrill of singing along. It’s just plastic, but it’s also proof I once danced like no one was watching.
3. A Single Childhood Toy (Mr. Bear, the One-Eared Warrior)
Survivor of tea parties, tantrums, and a misguided haircut (RIP, his left ear). Now he sits on my shelf, a threadbare guardian of my younger self’s secrets.
4. Letters from a Friend Who’s Gone
Emails were printed on paper because screens felt too fragile for her words. She signed them *”Yours, stubbornly”*—a rebellion against goodbyes.

5. My Dog’s First Collar
Small, blue, and still dusty from park adventures. The jingle of its bell is the sound of unconditional love.
Why These Things?
They’re not *things*—they’re **time machines**. The recipes bring back her voice, the wristband replays the music, and Mr. Bear still smells like home.
